Workshop

Following the close of IEEE ISISS 2015, there will be a workshop on Thursday afternoon entitled "Miniaturized Inertial Sensors in Competitive Sports," organized by Mounir Zok (Sr., Sports Technologist, United States Olympic Committee) and Andrei Shkel (General Chair & University of California, Irvine).

Workshop Objective

In a highly competitive space such as Olympic and Paralympic sports, technology, and engineering constitute a fundamental ingredient of any athlete's success at the Games. Within the realm of engineering, miniaturized inertial sensors lend themselves perfectly for measuring the performance of athletes: they're small in size, light in weight, and can communicate wirelessly. Even though great advances can be found in several fields, such as the military and medicine, little efforts have been invested in development of inertial sensors specifically for sports

The primary aim of this workshop is to create an open conversation around inertial sensors and sports among experts in technology and competitive sport applications. Participants will learn about some of the main challenges that experts face, and get involved in brainstorming of the opportunities that lie ahead.

Workshop Schedule: Thursday, March 26, 2015
